These shoes are very retro and look great with a pair of dark jeans and a blazer for a sort of slightly dressy casual look. However, the arch support inside the shoe is so flat they're a bit uncomfortable to wear for very long. Definitely a shoe for the flat footed.

I ordered this product instead of my intended 'chucks' based on the price and the description: "Converse Jack Purcell Leather Ox". It seemed a good price for that product.
When I received the product, it was WRONG. It was the canvas option.
The seller offered a refund once the product was returned (with free shipping), but their policy states that it may take up to 7 days for a refund. Unfortunately, they didn't offer an exchange option to actually get what was described on this product page. I would have to order it again - with no assurance that it would be right the next time.
This meant that I would have to spend time shipping them back, wait (up to 7 days for a refund), try to order them again in hopes that the order won't be wrong again, then wait to get them shipped back to me again. Too much hassle.
Since I was originally looking for 'canvas' chucks, and the price for these (even though canvas) was still reasonable - I decided to avoid the trouble of getting them to fix this mistake and settle with this product.
I'm more upset that the description is wrong. Buyer beware.
This was my first bad Amazon experience.

After only a few months of very light use, the soles have begun to separate at the heel from the rest of the shoe. It's not bad, but you feel absolutely any moisture at all immediately.

Well, after a long deliberation whether to get these or a pair of Chuck Taylor lows I went ahead and purchased these. They are the first pair of Purcell's I have purchased and I really enjoy them. They are well constructed- the leather is supple, the metal eyelets solid, and the sole is tough. I live as an expat in Paris, France and spend a great deal of time traversing the city by foot/metro. These shoes look nice and work well with a suit dressed down or a pair of jeans. I wear them both with or w/o socks. They are a great weekend/relaxed shoe with a a dressy feel verses the canvas. I would buy them again.

I bought these shoes about a week ago, all I can say is WOW! They fit me like a glove and although they do get a bit uncomfortable after wearing them for a long time, they look amazing. the looks I get totally makes the sore feet worth it.
